I love to watch the TLC show What Not to Wear. If you aren't familiar with the show, a person is nominated as the participant/victim. They receive a $5,000.00 Visa card to take shopping in New York City. The catch is that they have to turn over their entire wardrobe to the show's hosts.
They try on some of their clothes and the fashion experts teach them why those outfits don't work for them and teach them what will. The ones that don't suit them are sent off to charity. Then they help them shop (on the 2nd day at least) and give them a new hairdo and makeup.
I wish they did this show for teens. If I were hosting this is what would hit the giveaway bin.
- Track pants, shorts etc that have JUICY, HOT or KISSABLE written across the rear end.
- Jeans that require a Brazilian wax to wear.
- Shirts so tight that you can read the raised print on the label of the bra.
- Pants that are held up only by a prayer.
- Skirts that can only be worn while standing up. No bending, stair climbing, sitting allowed.
- Anything with a lot of chains hanging off of it.
I realize that teens need to express themselves the same as adults. I'm just wishing that some of them would show a little less skin while they're doing it.
